Our Commitment to Accessibility

Toroni & Company is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We continually improve the user experience for everyone and apply the relevant accessibility standards to ensure we provide equal access to all of our users.

We strive to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA standards, as published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with a wide range of disabilities, including visual, auditory, physical, speech, cognitive, language, learning, and neurological disabilities.

Conformance Status

We believe that our website conforms to WCAG 2.1 Level AA standards. We have taken the following measures to ensure accessibility:

  • Semantic HTML: Our website uses proper semantic HTML5 elements (headings, landmarks, lists, forms) to provide meaningful structure that assistive technologies can interpret
  • Keyboard Navigation: All interactive elements and navigation can be accessed and operated using a keyboard alone, without requiring a mouse
  • Color Contrast: Text and interactive elements meet WCAG 2.1 AA contrast ratio requirements (minimum 4.5:1 for normal text, 3:1 for large text)
  • Alt Text: All meaningful images include descriptive alternative text. Decorative images are marked appropriately so they are ignored by screen readers
  • Focus Indicators: Visible focus indicators are provided for all interactive elements to assist keyboard navigation
  • Responsive Design: Our website is designed to be usable at various zoom levels (up to 200%) and on various screen sizes without loss of content or functionality
  • Form Labels: All form inputs have associated labels, and form errors are clearly identified and described in text
  • Link Purpose: The purpose of each link can be determined from the link text alone, or from the link text together with its programmatically determined context
  • Page Titles: Each page has a unique, descriptive title that identifies the topic or purpose of the page
  • Language: The primary language of each page is identified in the HTML

Compatibility with Assistive Technologies

Our website is designed to be compatible with the following assistive technologies:

  • Screen readers (JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver, TalkBack)
  • Screen magnification software
  • Speech recognition software (Dragon NaturallySpeaking)
  • Keyboard-only navigation
  • Switch devices and alternative input methods
  • Browser-based accessibility tools and extensions

Standards and Regulations

Our accessibility efforts are guided by the following standards and regulations:

  • Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA: The internationally recognized standard for web accessibility, covering perceivable, operable, understandable, and robust content
  • Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA): U.S. federal civil rights law that prohibits discrimination against individuals with disabilities, including in the digital space
  • Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act: Requires federal agencies and organizations receiving federal funding to make electronic and information technology accessible to people with disabilities
  • European Accessibility Act (EAA): EU directive requiring digital products and services to meet accessibility requirements
  • EN 301 549: European standard for accessibility requirements for ICT products and services

Ongoing Efforts

We are committed to ongoing accessibility improvement. Our efforts include:

  • Regular automated and manual accessibility testing
  • Training for our content creators and developers on accessibility best practices
  • Including accessibility requirements in our design and development processes
  • Monitoring user feedback to identify and address accessibility barriers
  • Periodic third-party accessibility audits

Known Limitations

While we strive for full accessibility, some content may not yet be fully accessible. We are actively working to resolve any identified issues. Known limitations may include:

  • Some third-party content or embedded services may not fully conform to WCAG 2.1 standards
  • Some older PDF documents may not be fully accessible (we are working to remediate these)
  • Some animations may not meet motion preference settings in all browsers

We are working to address these limitations and improve accessibility across all areas of our Site.
